ok yep. the iPod is fixed. I replaced the battery and the display and now it is perfect. the battery replacemnt was super easy and took about 20 min but doing the display took me like an hour because I had to open the whole thing up and disconnect the harddrive and everthing. If I wanted to I could replace the harddrive with an sd card but it really isn't neccessary because 30GB stores a lot of songs anyways.
